Airfarewatchdog adds airline preferences to email fare alerts

New functionality allows consumers to "unlike" airlines.

BOSTON – Airfarewatchdog, the most inclusive source of airfare deals, researched and verified by experts, announced its most recent email customization tool for fliers. The site provides airfare deals both on the site and as part of a free email alert service that, in a significant step forward for the airfare alert space, now lets subscribers see fares only on airlines they prefer to fly.

“We’re the only email service that allows consumers to customize their airline preferences for all U.S. airlines,” says Airfarewatchdog founder George Hobica. “Although some airfare tools allow filtering by airline alliances when performing a search, such as OneWorld or Star Alliance, the ability to create email filters by specific airline has been lacking until now. Many consumers simply refuse to fly on certain airlines or are loyal not just to an alliance, but to a specific airline. This new feature on Airfarewatchdog caters to these preferences.”

Not All Alerts Are Created Equal
Hobica adds, “Many consumer experts agree that emailed and tweeted alerts are the most effective way to catch an unadvertised airfare bargain, especially since there is no ‘magic’ time of day or day of the week to buy the cheapest airfares. Many apps and websites offer them, as a quick web search shows, however, some don’t show all airlines.”

Southwest Airlines‘, Allegiant Airlines‘ and even Delta‘s and American‘s fares are missing from many apps and sites, but in contrast, Airfarewatchdog shows fares on every airline departing from the U.S. and Canada, including Southwest. And until now, no major app or airfare email service has allowed consumers to avoid airlines that they prefer not to fly when subscribing to fare alerts.

“Our users have been asking for this for a while now and we’re extremely happy to be able to offer this level of customization,” Hobica added.
