Central Hall Westminster extends Wi-Fi discussion to virtual audience

The Wi-Fi discussion will be looking to bridge the gap that has emerged between venues and event organisers, aiming to equip both parties with the understanding and language needed to communicate event requirements effectively.

Central Hall Westminster, central London’s largest purpose built conference centre, announces that it will be inviting virtual delegates to join their Wi-Fi roundtable discussion online, creating a hybrid event. The event, which is part of the venue’s Meet The Future campaign, will be taking place at 9am on Thursday 20th February 2014.

The event will be live streamed and the virtual audience will be able to contribute to proceedings by asking questions and sharing their own experiences with the group. The Wi-Fi discussion will be looking to bridge the gap that has emerged between venues and event organisers, aiming to equip both parties with the understanding and language needed to communicate event requirements effectively. The event will feature Richard Hughes, Director of event Wi-Fi specialists Max WiFi, and Kim Carrington, IT Manager at Central Hall Westminster, who will assist delegates in understanding the right questions to ask venues to avoid Wi-Fi woes.

Maria Schuett, Marketing Manager at Central Hall Westminster, commented: “We are very excited to be able to open this event up to a wider audience via hybrid technology. Wi-Fi is a hugely popular issue in the events industry and we feel there is still work to be done to educate planners and venues alike, to equip them with an understanding of the key terminologies. I am also looking forward to hearing about the specific problems planners have experienced in the past. The virtual audience will be able to express these problems directly to the specialists around the table and be involved in every aspect of the discussion.”

The Meet The Future campaign has been designed to explore event technologies and encourage planners to take a proactive step in embracing emerging technologies. The Wi-Fi roundtable, which will focus on where event technology is today, will be followed by a second event in May 2014 to explore event technologies of tomorrow. This event will look beyond the immediate future to explore what might be possible with developments in communications and technology in the longer term.
