IOBUS expanding, starts tours in Milan and Matera

After Rome and La Spezia, the all-Italian bus operator of city tours is also launching new itineraries in Matera and entering into a partnership in Milan.

One year after its debut in Rome, followed a few months later by a happy operational “landing” in La Spezia-Porto Venere and Lerici, IOBUS, the all-Italian operator of city tours, realizes two distinct partnership operations. In Milan, IOBUS signed a commercial collaboration agreement with the MilanOpenTour operator, sharing the idea of a strategic development of the “openbus” product. This sharing arises from the need to enhance and make cities known as only those who live there on a daily basis can do, but also with the intention of developing an innovative “combined” product that includes city tours in Rome and Milan. In fact, the tour can be purchased with a single ticket from the sales network and websites of the two companies and through the main OTAs; moreover – to give tourists the opportunity to make the most of it – the ticket will be valid for one year.

“In the recent history of open buses, this formula represents a unicum” underlines Giuseppe Cilia, President of the IOBUS Group “because it offers tourists the possibility of making a single travel purchase for the tours scheduled in the two cities, with the significant advantage of a discounted rate. An impressive marketing operation which, we are sure, is only the beginning for further and important future developments between two great realities of Italian tourism entrepreneurship.” The underlining by Alfredo Palmieri, director of MilanOpenTour, is of the same tenor: “We express our full satisfaction with the partnership signed with IOBUS which will allow us to offer our respective customers the opportunity to visit the two cities on board the iconic double-decker open buses made available by two operators who make Made in Italy and the link with the territory in which they operate their own hallmark.”

The second operation is with Matera’s tour operator, Martulli Viaggi – which includes various services for Lucan incoming – and it is an innovative model that provides for the use of the Iobus brand and the management of a branded bus as well as the use of the guide in 8 languages while the commercial activity is carried out by both companies, with their own websites and through OTAs. For Fabiola Cilia, General Manager of Iobus: “This partnership model is innovative because in the post-pandemìa, the main thing is the expansion of the brand and making sure that the royalties can be reinvested in the respective companies, to modernize the fleets, create facilities for customers, introduce special services.”

In Matera, the planned tour is a”one-round” in a single solution, which allows tourists to visit the most iconic corners of this suggestive location in southern Italy, which was also the European Capital of Culture.
