The award was conferred during EHMA’s recent Annual General Meeting in Lisbon.
Emmy Stoel, General Manager of the Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, is this year’s winner of the prestigious award “European Hotel Manager of the Year” that EHMA – European Hotel Managers Association – grants annually to an active member who has achieved outstanding results in hotel management during the previous year and throughout his/her career. The Award was presented to her during EHMA’s Annual General Assembly held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 10th to 12th February 2023. Emmy’s recent achievements include several prizes received during the recent difficult times of the pandemic as a result of the hotel’s great social involvement under her guidance.

Indeed, Emmy Stoel has a special focus on social, cultural and personnel values that makes her a remarkable General Manager.
With a long history of working in the luxury hospitality industry, an expert in gastronomy and hospitality management, Emmy Stoel graduated from Hotel Management School Maastricht, with a GMP from Cornell university she started her career in 1989 at Hotel de Arendshoeve. In the following years she held various management positions at Hilton hotels and Hotel Okura Amsterdam, where she worked as General Manager for 6 years. The Accor Group appointed Emmy Stoel to the position of General Manager of Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam in 2019. She has been recognized with several prizes, among which the EHMA Sustainability Award by Diversey 2021, the Virtuoso Culture Award 2021 for her “Artists in Residence” project, Villegiature Awards 2021 – Grand Prize Best Service in a Hotel in the World. Recently she was elected among the Top 100 Best Hotel General Managers for 2022.

Giuseppe has a long-standing commitment to quality and a remarkable record of nurturing young talents.
