EIC to offer digital badge through credly for CMP and CMP-HC professionals

Digital credentialing highlights achievement, excellence in events industry.

WASHINGTON, DC, USA – Industry professionals’ dedication and a commitment to excellence drive the Events Industry Council’s Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or Certified Meeting Professional-Healthcare (CMP-HC) designation. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education and a rigorous exam.

EIC is launching a new digital badge programme for CMP and CMP-HC holders to highlight this professional certification.

EIC is working with Credly, the digital credentialing leader, to provide digital badges. Now more than ever, as we face unprecedented disruption, the effort put forth by industry professionals working to adapt and hone their professional portfolio and network – many taking this time to focus on upskilling and reskilling – is inspiring. The digital badge offering through the Credly platform transforms knowledge, skills and achievements into digital credentials that empower individuals to connect with new learning and advance toward career opportunities.

“By providing a secure, digital representation of our certifications, these professionals can more easily manage, share and leverage their credentials within their networks, across social media platforms and on their resumes,” said Amy Calvert, Events Industry Council CEO. “We want to recognise and continue to champion the CMP and CMP-HC community by offering another way to showcase this hard-earned certification and create opportunities for engagement.”

More than 11,000 meeting professionals from 55 nations hold the CMP designation.

“We are proud of this community and the level of professionalism and dedication that every CMP and CMP-HC represents,” said CMP Governance Commission Chair Barbara Connell, CMP, CAE. “These badges will help our community promote and amplify their own personal brands while raising awareness to the power and strength of the events industry.”

EIC is offering these badges at no cost to CMPs and CMP-HCs, and is also offering relief support for candidates impacted by COVID-19.

Application: For those seeking their CMP, EIC is providing $50 USD relief on the initial application and $50 USD for the certification examination fee if the applicant has been affected by COVID-19 and was furloughed, had their position eliminated or has experienced a salary reduction. Contact certification@eventscounrcil.org for a relief code to enter when making an online payment.

Exam: EIC is providing $50 USD relief for the certification examination fee for those who have been affected by COVID-19 and were furloughed, had their position eliminated or have experienced a salary reduction.

Recertification: EIC wants to help CMPs keep the certification that they worked so hard to achieve and therefore is freezing the recertification fee at $225 USD through 30 September 2020. No code is required.

EIC offers these webinars, free of charge, where CMPs can earn 1 CE per webinar viewed after taking the quiz. EIC continues to add webinars to the schedule. Participation in live webinars is free; EIC has expanded capacity to host up to 3,000 attendees.

“The events industry, which comprises over 26 million professionals globally, is essential to community-building, workforce development and education at scale, across virtually every role and profession,” said Jonathan Finkelstein, CEO of Credly. “EIC’s new digital credentials arrive at a critical time, helping event professionals prove their skills, build connections to the broader community, and demonstrate their readiness to serve with excellence when called upon.”
